Lois had a style all her own, one that leaned a little more camera-ready than Maria's ever did, but one thing was the exact same, and that one trait had caused her to look into Lois's eyes and trust her the first time they'd met: they both knew how to take command of a room and kick anyone who got in their way. Maria flicked a gesture at her agents, sent them back to their post and off Lois's tail. There was no point in trying to get more ID off her, when she was already settling in and going fifty miles a minute.
"Tell me about it," she agreed with feeling. "My counterparts over in MI:6 are bouncing off the walls and exploding pens left and right." She considered. "It's really hard to tell who voted for what, actually, but they all agree it's a 'royal bloody mess'," she said in a very bad English accent. At least the impact with SHIELD would be less than what Lois wanted to chart, but it would still require figuring out how they would all tango now, without screwing up the missions that were in progress.
Lois zeroed in, and Maria nodded. "This is one of our field offices; we're clear." They might have to scrub it down now that Eddie had been in it; Maria scowled as Lois brought up that very point, and wasn't quite mollified when Lois turned around and claimed her as her bitch. "Mr Nygma," she said, voice back to being flat and professional, "informed me that you wanted to use SHIELD's connections to access hidden data."
