Who: Lex Luthor When: Backdated, May 8th. Where: Temporary New Mexico residence What: Information Acquisition Rating: Low
Prosthetics technology wasn't something that LexCorp was exploring. He wanted to fix that. And instead of having to do the tedious task of starting at the beginning with no knowledge at all ... why not take a peek at what the competition was doing?
It hadn't taken long to work his way into the files at QuickStart, and what he'd found at first was the usual type of thing, lists of employees, bank accounts, locations of buildings. A little more digging, and Lex came across what he was looking for.
"Fascinating," he murmured, eyes moving slowly and carefully over the schematics and prototypes. "With enough money and a few improvements..." He moved to another file and another when...
His connection to the files were abruptly severed. Frowning, he took the steps to enter again, but just as he reached the files he wanted, again he was blocked. And his third attempt was blocked completely. Taking a breath, Luthor spent a few minutes figuring out another way, with another workaround this new block.
...And found the entire source of data completely shut down. Lifting an eyebrow, Lex pursed his lips. The response had been too quick. And the information wasn't offline, as usually happened when a source realized it was under attack. It was there it was just ... something was blocking it. And that something was nothing he'd dealt with before.
More tests to breach the new "firewall", each in a different were met with the same result. This system was ... adaptive?
"Or sentient," he murmured before disconnecting from the computer. No sense in giving the thing a way of finding him. But the idea of a sentient server protecting data .... was far more interesting than medical prosthetics.
