"Don' WANNA!"
Vision looked at Eira sternly (which there seemed to be little difference between this and his default look, admittedly). "You do not need to sleep, but you at least need to lay down quietly with a book for twenty minutes. Remember, you agreed to this schedule."
Eira let out a displeased wail. Vision's hairless brows bent, trying to fathom what had her so upset while she frumped onto her butt and threw the book away from her feet. The book didn't go very far, so she kicked at it with her chubby bare foot instead, face scrunched up when it still did not go very far. Steeling himself with more patience, he knelt down by her, looking at the unhappy face. "Is it the nap itself that has you so upset or are you worried I will be doing things without you? I only plan to do dishes and fold clothes, Eira."
"BUH I DUNNO!" Then she just started blubbering, trying to talk but being a toddler and highly emotional, Vision could make no sense of what she was trying to communicate.
So instead he just picked her up, getting ready to float upstairs with her to lay her down when the doorbell rang.
It turned out to be Teddy. The tall young man took a look at the blubbering tot and immediately made a soothing sound of sympathy and held his hands up. Vision allowed Eira to lean over to Teddy, the gasped blathering at least turning to small sniffs and caught breathing as he rocked her and rubbed her back. "Aw, princess, what's wrong?"
Eira didn't seem to want to explain, though, so she just made an airy whine and leaned dead weight on the broad shoulder. Teddy looked over her head toward Vision with an inquiring look. Vision could only hold his hands up helplessly.
It took another fifteen minutes to get Eira settled, and she did seem content to try to nap, grabbing her stuffed dinosaur to hug on while the two crept back downstairs.
"I apologize. Usually she's not so upset when it comes to quiet time," Vision noted.
"No need to apologize. Toddlers are an emotional stew, and unlike us they've only had a few years of trying to deal with it."
Vision made an uncomfortable sound of acknowledgement at that. "What brings you by, might I ask? Just a visit?"
Now it was Teddy who looked uncomfortable. He rubbed at the back of his neck. "Uh... No. Is Wanda home?"
"No, she's at work. She needed to help arrange an event for tonight and tomorrow."
"Oh."
Something in Vision's brain shot with a spark, some intuition granted by Teddy's demeanor. And likely because Teddy wanted to talk to them, it had to do with Billy. He mulled it over for a full three seconds, then asked, "How about I make some coffee?"
"Yeah. That'd be great, actually."

Later Vision was sitting on the couch, arms folded, looking at the coffee table with his dimly glowing eyes. Teddy was nervously turning his half empty coffee mug in his hands, waiting for Vision to respond to everything he had verbally unloaded on him. Finally Vision lift his head. "Do you want to go to California?"
Teddy sighed. "I dunno... I want to be wherever Billy is, and Billy wants to go. He's already lined up for a dorm room and everything, and really, it's been so long since he's been excited about anything, and I can't... I can't tell him I won't go with him when it's the first real spark I've seen in him for months and months." A heavy shrug. "So of course the answer is yes, I want to go if this will be what helps him find happiness again. Even if it means getting out of the state."
"But you don't want to leave your friends."
"Right... Those are... Umm..." Teddy seemed to fortify himself emotionally. "Besides Billy, they're the only family I got. I don't have anyone else. But Billy's my world, so... It's not that there's really a choice, I just..."
Some emotions, no matter how many years experience, are always difficult to process. Vision's mind whirred quietly, pondering over what he felt, but at the same time, knowing that it was better if he told the young man what he needed to hear. "I understand. If Wanda wanted to leave, I would follow. Teddy, the world is a much smaller place than it used to be. You can always communicate with your friends here, can always talk to them through the phone, can always visit even." Teddy pursed his lips, looking up a bit hopefully. Vision continued. "Also, you have grown into a fully fledged hero. You have been working fairly independent from the team when you patrol at night, from my understanding. The others on your team have also grown immensely, soon to likely be independent as well. This area is also very vigilante heavy. The West coast could use people of your skills, and Billy's as well if Billy is willing to return to it."
"Yeah... I guess so."
They sat in silence for a while. Then Teddy looked up again. "I don't want to tell the others this, is all."
"But you'll have to."
"I know." A pause, then a small smile. "Don't worry. I'll tell them in person."
"That is good." Vision looked toward the kitchen before standing. "I'll get you more coffee."
"Thanks... And Vision?" The synthezoid turned about to look at him. "Thanks. Really, thanks."
Vision only nodded, then moved away. He'd sort through the stew of his emotions later.
