Who: DOOM, npc Valeria, Kaylee, and Tony, open to Pepper
When: 2033 (Future)
Where: Elsewhere, Latveria
What: DOOM gets an unexpected visitor while out working.
Rating: PG-13? Lowish really
Metal, polished a shining silver, was bright in the beating sun where the spread fingers rest in the dirt. There was no sound but the wind tugging at cloth and sighing through the brown clumps of grass.
Then footsteps coming nearer, and a much slighter figure crouched down in front of him, slender hands on knees and blue eyes looking up earnestly. "Well?"
"You are trying Doom's patience, child," he murmured, eyes still closed in concentration.
She waited for a moment longer. "...Well?"
"Do you doubt me?" he asked with irritation. "I've returned from fighting gods. You think I cannot do this one thing?"
"Hm." She beamed. "Of course you can."
His smile was as grim as his mask. "Of course." He lift his hand from the soil, skirls of dark dust whirling where his palm left the ground. With gentle clinks of his armor he stood from kneeling, folding his arms even as the rumble started.
Valeria felt the vibration under her feet, then grinned and ran a little to the edge of the dry lakebed, so long dust. Then in the middle, many meters away, water started to gush upward.
Villagers that had been skirting warily around them gasped and started forward. The lake bed quickly turned to muck and then soupy mud around their knees. They didn't care, rushing into it and holding their hands up to the water fountaining and filling the bed.
Victor cared little for it, walking away. Valeria was still all smiles, trailing after the dictator she only stood chest height to. "How long will it last?"
"Three years if it is only this village using the water. If the trees come back, longer. I'll have the bots start planting right away." He walked on, letting villagers run past him toward the slowly filling lake. There it was laughter, mud and water. But on the border of the village where Doom walked to survey the damage, all was blood, injury, fire and twisted metal.
As though the dictators who once held this region had a chance against him. No one would guess how old Doom was by the way he moved, as though time couldn't rust him. Other heroes had retired. He trudged on like a stubborn well-oiled machine.
When it was Valeria asking, how could he not? Besides, after his latest disappearance to realms unknown to most (many had claimed him dead) it seemed to have caused quite a bit of disruption in his corner of the world. Kristoff had held the country together, but there had been a great deal of power mongering and struggling over some regions. Before such greedy dictators would have been too scared of Doom to dare such attempts anywhere near his borders.
A reminder for them all was good.
"Have you chosen someone to fill the gap of power here, child?" Doom asked before he pushed at the edge of a tank. It groaned and clanged when he shoved the hulking machine over. There wasn't a survivor underneath, so he moved on. He'd spared many lives, for Valeria's sake, but not quite all.
"Yes, someone the people will flock to, once they are notified. If you could broadcast..."
Something in Doom's mask lit up and pinged. Doom lift a hand. "There's an intruder at the castle."
"Intru-ohhhh." Valeria put a finger to her lips. "Probably who I think it is, isn't it."
Victor just sighed, little more than a metal hissing sound. "We will return later. For now let's see to our 'guest'," he noted. He lift his hands, pulling power to himself with easy motions. Valeria hurriedly stepped close.
So then a few seconds later the drought riddled land disappeared and the darker gloom of his comforting stone castle walls and green drapes manifested instead. He was leaning down, all menace and knowing it wasn't having a bit of impact on the girl he had appeared in front of. "Young lady, it is not polite to come to one's household without at least a notice of visit."
Valeria spun about though and had her arms around the older girl. "Kaylee!"
Well, so much for chastising. Doom straightened and folded his arms.
