Who: Nyssa
What: Nyssa's badly injured on a League mission and is taken care of by a stranger
Where: Few miles outside of Flam, Norway
When: Retro! Early 1980s
Rating: Medium for injuries
The mission she had been sent on for the League had been more difficult than what had been anticipated. That wasn't to say she hadn't completed it. But the process of fulfilling her task had left her gravely injured. A hand was pressed to her side in effort to staunch the blood flow from a knife that had slipped through her guard. She knew what her father would say though. Death would be her reward for being so careless. It was why she refused to die. To prove she was worthy to bear the name al'Ghul.
Leaning against a tree, she looked down the mountainside and blinked a little. A village she could perhaps take refuge in while she healed... It was small so it was unlikely they knew about the League. Carefully she removed her more obvious weapons and hiding them in a rotted out stump, keeping only a knife on her belt before she began working her way carefully down the trail. She got more than halfway down before a dizzy spell hit from blood loss and she was sent crashing and rolling down, coming to a halt in front of a stream. She could dimly make out a startled voice but her head had cracked against a rock and she was soon sent into blissful darkness.
When she next awoke, it was to a dull throbbing in her head and her whole body aching in pain. She forced her eyes open and they landed on a rather attractive looking man at her side. Nyssa's dark eyes quickly noted the blood on the man's hands and she slowly clenched her fist that was out of his sight, ready to strike. She must have tensed for the man looked up at her, his blue eyes showing his relief at seeing her awake.
"I was afraid I hadn't gotten to you in time," he said.
Grateful she knew Norwegian, she gave a weak smile in thanks. "What happened? Where am I?"
"My home in Flam. I was about to do some hiking when you fell in front of me at the stream." He finished with what he was doing and sat back. "I patched you up as best I could."
"You're a doctor?" The shift in his eyes and sad grin told Nyssa the answer before he did.
"No. Unfortunately I had to drop out of medical school as I could no longer afford it." He got up and Nyssa watched as he began washing the blood, her blood, off of his hands. "I'm Aleksander." He dried his hands and walked back over to her bedside. "You should rest more though."
"I must return home..." she murmured, struggling to get up. He easily pushed her back down onto the bed.
"You need rest. I can contact your family to let them know you are safe."
Nyssa closed her eyes. "I don't have anyone to contact." Well, she had a small hope that perhaps Talia would care but if Ra's ordered her not to come to her sister's aid, Talia would no doubt abide by it. It was how their family was after all. No matter. Her eyes opened and she arched a brow at seeing the sympathy in Aleksander's eyes. "I do not need your pity or compassion," she snapped a bit angrily.
"Everyone deserves to have someone they love and to care for them," he returned softly, not seemingly bothered by her anger.
Nyssa looked away, her thoughts drifting to her long dead mother. "I would like to sleep now," she murmured. He nodded and pulled a blanket over her and she gave a small nod of thanks before closing her eyes. It was going to take time for her wounds to allow her to travel. She only hoped that this Aleksander man would continue his hospitality out of willingness and she wouldn't have to manipulate it out of him.
