Effie pulled the key from around her neck, unlocking the Salventori tomb and stepping inside, shutting the iron door behind her for privacy. She sighed, laying a bouquet of roses on her parents coffins before heading for the one she came for, resting a hand against the worn wood.
"Hey," she said softly, gently stroking the casket. "So...I'm getting married again." She closed her eyes, biting at her lip. "I...I think you would have liked him. Well, the you I know, Skrull you probably would have hated him and his mouth." She let go of the casket, sitting on the ground next to it, placing the bouquet of roses over the inlaid cross. "So...I miss you. Like, a lot. It's odd to be preparing again for a wedding and not have you around. I miss it. Also, Peter is not as snarky about the flowers."
Effie swallowed, taking a deep, steadying breath, her eyes open to look at the stone and wood around her, lungs filling with the dust of the dead before sigh gave a heavy sigh, looking at the casket behind her. "I miss you so much, but I can't keep clinging to you, Tim." She looked down at the necklace in her hand, giving it a squeeze for a moment before opening the clasp, pulling her wedding rings free and placing them next to the roses. "Thank you, for what you gave me..."
She stood, placing a gentle kiss against the wood of the casket, turning and heading for the door. She paused as she turned the lock of the door, turning to look back at the caskets behind her. It made her incredibly sad, that of three of the five caskets she was looking at were empty, bodies lost to the violence of their world. As she left, closing the door behind her, she prayed that her children didn't have to bury an empty box for her. "Good bye," she whispered, locking the door.
Climbing into the waiting taxi, she wiped at her eyes, sniffing as she stared at Boston for the last time, heading for the church to pick up Father Sean O'Malley for his stay in New York before the wedding.
