Some people might have thought it was a contrary opinion for a hunter to hold, to be a fan of animals... but in truth, Ollie couldn't see how the two wouldn't go together. If someone was going to hunt an animal, they could at least show it the respect it deserved.
Even little wrinkle nosed pugs like Topsy Underdog. "Yeah yeah, keep your hat on." He mumbled, clearly busted in his affection for the stupid dog. Not that he'd admit it. Mia was right, he was a crotchety old man and that's how he intended to stay.
"I'm surprised he can make mac and cheese." Ollie said, but recoiled a little at what he said. He could be hard on Roy unintentionally. He was working on it. Had been for the past decade or so. He amended it by adding, "Roy's got other good traits." That was better, he figured.
Ollie had the audacity to look offended at Mia's accusation and gestured loudly with his spoon-- his mouth was full after all-- then swallowed, and added, "I did no such thing."
He paused, then recanted with a shrug, "I may have taken someone's daughter on a date but that was it." And he'd been entirely gentlemanly. He'd even invited her to stay for coffee and breakfast. She'd declined. Her loss. He made great coffee.
