Nyssa stared over the landscape from her balcony, enjoying the gentle warm breeze. She couldn't help her thoughts as they drifted towards her sister. She had no doubt Talia was still alive. Even without access to a Pit she would find a way to stay alive. Nyssa's arms folded over her chest. Some of their resources had sighted Talia in Gotham. It made sense in Nyssa's mind. Damian was there after all. And even if Talia and her Beloved weren't on the best of terms, he would not let her die if he could help it.
It slightly worried Nyssa too that Talia might try to recruit the Detective and Damian to her cause. Hopefully though the Detective's dislike for all things relating to the League and the desire to keep his son out of this life would prevent that. Still, Nyssa would prepare for the worst. Guards had been doubled within the fortress. Every day was constant training, both physically and mentally. Nyssa had even gone so far as to find what footage she could of the Bat fighting so the League could better combat him if he arrived.
"My Lady, your midday meal awaits," a servant said.
"Any further news on the location of my sister?"
"Not that we've yet to receive. Surely her wounds are still requiring her to recover?"
"Her Beloved will not allow her to stay for too long, injuries or not, for fear of turning Damian back to the League and rallying with her. Nor will she want me to continue to sit on what she thinks is her son's birthrite."
"Forgive my boldness but, is it not the boy's birthrite to be the Demon's Head?"
"Being the Demon's Head cannot be given freely away like gold or jewels. It must be fought for. It must be earned. Talia was always favored over me. I will not deny that. When I found my father I had to fight and scrape for everything within the League. And while I never had any desire to rule the League, only to be counted as an equal amongst its members, I have more than earned the right to rule. Which is more than can be said for my half-sister and nephew."
She turned and looked at the elderly man, a small smile on her face. She knew the man well, he had been in the League for decades. "Should my sister one day come to try and wrest the League from my control we shall duel honorably for the title of Demon's Head. Fate will decide who is the true leader. Until that day though, we shall honor the true purpose of the League and cleanse what evil we can from the world."
