Who: Phil Coulson & Open to all SHIELD personel
When: Backdated, Friday, November 20th
Where: SHIELD HQ
What: Something amazing
Rating: Low to start
Sometimes even the best SHIELD recruits do something very stupid. They'll get a sense of inflated ego as they go up the ranks, complete missions and tasks successfully. This happens more to combat and field agents, rather than tech and research, generally. These recruits do more hand to hand combat drills and sparring sessions.
One cocky young recruit, fresh out of the SHIELD academy training program had felt that he didn't need to do the morning's required exercises with the rest, bragging that he'd aced all of his mini missions so far. He felt he'd earned a pass.
Phil Coulson, acting recruit trainee, felt differently. Coulson knew that these exercises were important, they kept your sense and your muscles trained for whatever would be thrown your way, and they also acted as a bonding technique for the recruits. They did them together as a team, and barring some kind of illness or physical injury, everyone was required to do them.
The recruit had balked at Coulson's repeated order to start training, and after being lectured by the Level 7 agent on protocol and threatened with a write up and demerit, had done something incredibly dumb: He'd tried to prove his "dominance" and betterment by throwing a punch at Coulson.
Phil's reaction time was good, but even the best and highest agents weren't 100% able to dodge everything. The recruit's punch hadn't landed squarely, but had clipped his cheek. Immediately, nearby guards started to move forward to restrain the recruit, but Phil had lifted a hand.
"No. He wants to fight? Let him try." And he shrugged off his jacket and and took off his tie before taking up a fighting stance.
