Genis + M'Gann + Potentially Open?
Dr. Philip Lawson, never-known as the crusading Kree super-agent, arrived in NYC as all spies should: with little fanfare and a woman on his arm. Granted, this woman was a teenager. And an alien. And something of a gabber, though she did have a great gift for it. Also, she provided the transportation vis-a-vis her flying living bioship which he resisted calling Bumpy. Affectionately, of course.
Having originally assessed her as a Skrull and a threat to the human race, Genis-Vell (as he was known in circles that weren't Earth) was pleased he decided to do more research before terminating the irrepressible M'Gann. To his great surprise and subsequent paranoia, he discovered there was more than one species of green shape-shifting beings in the cosmos. If there was any genetic link, it was indeed ancient, and apart from that, long enough ago that the Martians possessed highly different political machinations.
Finding her to be a better potential ally than threat, Genis-Vell had approached her and told her about his mission here. Leaving out the more sordid murderous details and his celebrity 'conquests', he asked that she maintain his secret. Should the Kryptonians in Metropolis ever become a threat to humanity, he believed she would be an effective ally.
Which brought them to this place. SoHo Photo was exhibiting various artistic displays from neighboring students. Some of them were surprisingly insightful, and one even appeared to resemble Kree depictions of the fabled Source Wall. Genis wasn't sure tye-dye was the best medium for it, however. "Hmm... needs more Anti-Monitor," he mumbled thoughtfully, before moving on.
He wasn't here for art, anyway. He was here for the Starheart. Apparently, a human possessed this ancient power, which Titan records indicated crashed on Earth millenia ago. He was continually amazed in the many ways this small speck of a planet intersected with great powers of the cosmos. The question was... was this Starheart a boon or a threat? He had detected its power source in and around this region of New York City... but now he had the cover story to be here. And should it pop up, well... Megan would understand if he had to disappear for a while.
He turned to her, smiling. "See anything you like?"
