Who: Pepper and Dinah When: 10/12/15 Where:Manhattan, various stores What: Shopping for things that are not toys. Probably.
She was wearing sneakers. Pepper was now resigned, and given that the baby could realistically appear any time between now and the next seven or so weeks, she had bigger things to worry about right now. Pepper felt as big as a house, which seemed like a quaint saying until you were waddling down Fifth Avenue in clothes that she'd had to convince herself to put on in favor of ones that would have screamed comfort, instead.
But she was out of the house, and it was nice to be spending time with a friend, doing something very practical that needed to be done. Toys, adorable clothing, even tiny precious shoes they had plenty of, but some of the more essential items had gone by the wayside. She'd made a list, but Pepper was sure they'd find things along that way that she didn't even know they'd need.
"I think you're the only person I know who's even been around an infant," she mused. "All this preparation and I'm still not sure I'm prepared. And I need diapers."
