It was still strange to Nyssa to wake up in the chambers of the Demon. To know that her father dead and her sister forced out (which she did feel bad for but like she and Malcolm had discussed, Talia was far too much like Ra's to be allowed to rule). Not to say Talia wasn't allowed back but she had to conform to the new order. And that order was to go back to the ways of how the League was suppose to be. To punish criminals and instill justice and peace throughout the world by any means. Not to focus on one man in Gotham who dressed as a bat.
Donning her new robes and adornments that marked her as the Demon, Nyssa looked at herself in the full length mirror in her room and stared at herself. Her own desires for justice for her late child and the man she had loved had to be put on the back burner now. There were more important things at stake like ensuring the League was doing as it was told world wide. She had been receiving reports already of the decrease in crime world wide and that was a start. But more would need to be done in the long run. But for now, let the criminals fear the shadows. The Batman was far too soft to let his criminals live. After all, look at how many lives had been destroyed by his Rogues Gallery. The Joker alone had caused so much misery and death and he still walked the Earth.
Moving to a piece of paper she picked it up and read the latest on how Luthor was faring. "So he still yet clings to life..." she murmured to herself. She knew it wouldn't be for much longer. Not so far as she and her agents knew. Still, he would be watched just in case. Luthor was a slippery one after all given his name and influence as well as his wealth.
Setting the paper down she noticed some of the candles in her room flickering oddly. A small, amused smile formed on her face and she swiftly turned, parrying the knife attack to her once turned back with a sweep of her hand. She didn't stop there though. Her other arm came into play and she broke the masked assassin's arm along the elbow before viciously jerking the shoulder to dislocate it. The cry of pain sent in her personal guards and they quickly took the assassin into custody. Reaching out, Nyssa pulled the mask off and stared at her would be killer's face.
"You swore fealty to the Demon Fahd."
"I am loyal to the true Demon, Ra's al'Ghul!"
"My father is dead and sister outcast until she swears fealty to me. I am the true Demon." Nyssa looked at the guards. "Take him to the main hall. He will be executed publically. Assemble the members of the League here so they may tell the others the price of betrayal." She looked back at the member of the League. "They have all had time to make their choice. Now everyone in the League will know the full price for betraying their oaths."
"He will not be held prisoner?" one of the guards asked.
Nyssa turned and studied him, specifically his eyes. They were young and she knew instantly he was new to the League and had not seen much killing. "We are the League of Assassins. We do not take prisoners. True justice has no prisoners." She was pleased to see him nod in agreement before Fahd was pulled away. This was only one person close to home. She knew there were many more out there not happy she was in charge. Picking up her phone, she sent a message to Malcolm. She knew he still had contacts in the League. And any disgruntled Leaguers might open up to his contacts and inform him and then her about who and where they were.
Picking up her sword, she made her way to the main hall. Once there she saw Fahd on his knees tied between two posts. A part of Nyssa regretted this. He had been a good man and warrior, loyal to her father and to the League. But it seemed his loyalty to her father was more important than the League.
She looked out over the members that filled up the hall. "Fahd is a noble and powerful warrior. Yet he is more loyal to my late father than to the League. He tried to kill me not but moments ago in the Demon's chambers. MY chambers. I am the Demon. And it is now time for every member of the League to accept that. And if you think by refusing you will be spared and kept prisoner..." In a swift move she had her sword out and plunged through Fahd's back and down into his heart. A warrior's death in spite of his treachery. She murmured a soft prayer for his soul before stepping back, pulling her sword out.
"We are the League of Assassins. We take no prisoners. To take a prisoner who tried to harm you is a sign of weakness, not strength. For you are giving them the chance to come back and try to kill you again." With the help of a servant she cleaned the blood off of her blade and sheathed it. "We are the League of Assassins. It is our calling, our mission, to cleanse evil from this world. Those who have the courage to truly make this world better, I welcome you. Those who would rather follow my father and sister's desire of focusing on one man to rule the League who has not only no interest in it but refuses to do whatever it takes to save his city, leave now or share Fahd's fate."
While there was some shifting around, she was pleased to see no one trying to attack her or leaving. "Good. Now. We have work to do."
