Who: Victor von Doom, NPC F4 use When: 8/8/15 - early morning Where: Latverian Embassy, New York What: Doom trudges to the embassy after causing the F4 problems to see how well his nefarious plan worked. Rating: PG-13
The news was already covering the action that had happened around the Baxter Building. He listened to it idly while his heavy steps led him down into the Latverian Embassy's lab.
"-when several 'Doombots' appeared and attacked the upper floors of the Baxter Building. Eyewitnesses state that..."
"The Fantastic Four states that all Doombots were destroyed or self-destructed once they turned the tide of the fight and there is no further danger to the public and surrounding-."
"-word that the Invisible Woman will release a statement later today about what occurred during the battle. She did not answer why Doctor Doom attacked early this morning."
"-Dr. Richards, better known as Mr. Fantastic, speculated that the attack was an isolated incident, but that no one had been in any true danger save those in the upper floors and asks the public to remain calm while-."
"-angrily questioning of why Doctor Doom is not being arrested for his outrageous attacks and-."
Doom turned the newsfeed off, passing the last step into the basement and going to the computer, starting several programs. He didn't even look to the side at the small drone hovering in the air and offering the small flashdrive. He simply held his metal palm out and it dropped into his waiting hand. This was plugged in, and he narrowed his eyes at the encryption. He started the program, allowing it to do the heavy work of decoding the patterns, numbers and letters flying over the screens until finally the solution was applied.
Now he pulled up the holographs, brown eyes narrowed and taking in the information with focused glances.
In about twenty minutes he leaned back and sent the information to Latveria, all with a brand new encryption on top of Reed's.
So, Reed didn't know how to stabilize the negative material either. Not yet. Victor had been hopeful, what with Reed poking around in the Negative Zone. Which annoyed him to no ends that the American scientist would prod at such a dangerous plane. But then, sometimes Richards was not as leery of such things as Victor was.
Mr. Fantastic had been exposed to cosmic radiation exploring into the unknown. He had not received a demon scratch to the face.
At any rate, Victor's attack had worked to cause all the super powered residents of the Baxter Building the distraction needed so the drone could slip in and out without notice. Reed wasn't a fool, though (mostly not, anyhow) and likely would be running inventory to see if anything was missing. He knew a simple attack that forced him to puzzle how to keep damage centralized was not something Victor would do without another purpose. If Doom had really been wanting to end the Fantastic Four, there were many more ways he could go about it successfully. Perhaps he'd see the access into the system. Perhaps not. It mattered little. While Victor had been more hopeful that Reed had made a further breakthrough than he had, it was still a successful venture.
Or more a game than a venture, perhaps, one they kept playing. The stakes were just a little higher now. Reed had a child now, and Victor had adjusted for several cause and effects with that in mind. He could afford to irritate them after all--but he could not afford Sue Storm coming down on his head hell bent on revenge for truly endangering her child.
6:17 a.m. Victor looked to the time then settled back into his chair, meditating on the few bits of information Reed had that he did not. He had a few more theories he could try out once he got home. But for now, some rest and thinking and being alert for repercussions could delay exploring those theories.
After all, he was impatient when dealing with people. Not science.
