It was true that Loki didn't stay in one place for very long. The house would be empty for much of the morning, so much of the time he would nap after dawn. Then he would venture out into the city and he would explore the shops, find new food to snack on, and best of all he would read to await for the evening when others were more free. And certainly, sometimes being in new places and simply reading on the kindle was well and good, but sometimes a book needed to be paper, binding and ink. While the library would serve, he discovered the library had some strange restrictions on books. So he found bookstores that favored works that were both old and new, because there was something charming about the archaic books that he couldn't quite define.
Such was now, leaning back in a large chair with his foot on the corner of the foot rest, the book on his knee and green eyes scanning rapidly over the words of an elderly print of Lovecraft. The bookstore lady, a kindly creature who had taken him for a hard-luck case (perhaps he was) and accepted his fibs of being home-schooled came by to see how he was doing. The young godling paused his reading to exchange charming chatter, weather and brief bits of news and yes, he liked very much what he was reading but wouldn't recommend it for her, since the bookstore lady favored romance and mystery and Lovecraft was quite something else. This was broken off by the bell of the door ringing, and she shuffled away to see who had come in while Loki's green eyes skipped back to his reading. I know always that I am an outsider; a stranger in this century and among those who are still men.
But then he heard a voice, and he thought it familiar and felt attention on him, so again Loki looked up, looking toward the desk.
"Oh, hello," he greeted.
