Dick bat a hand at the air, making an airy dismissive sound. "Eh, the guards need the practice. I bet it only took them two minutes to realize I slipped away again. Well worth their ire, though." He grinned to her, then eyed her more conspiratorially. "You could always come up there with me." It wasn't the first time he'd made a similar offer.
"Barbara." It was a gentle chastising to her trying to brush his concern off so quickly. She was always so proud, always evasive to anyone doting on her, anyone who tried to patronize how much the Sight drained her. Dick had tried to point out to her that it wasn't a weakness to know that her gift came with a cost, and yes, he wanted to know exactly how heavy the toll on her had recently been. It affected whether they would sit or he'd dare to ask her to dance.
It also meant that she likely had news. Dick though felt his gut tighten as he watched her, his smile fading entirely, and not at all sure why.
