Who: Anyone who might possibly be invited Where: Wayne Manor, Gotham, NJ When: Oct. 31, 2014 Halloween! What The Annual Wayne Foundation Halloween Party
As always, the house was impeccably decorated, providing guests with a sense of atmosphere even before they stepped through the doors. Lights lined the drive leading to the turnabout in front of the house, and to the garage as well. These were not static, but alternated in red, yellow, and white, racing along so quickly that they appeared in a blur. Lanterns shining with brilliant green light hung from iron hooks stuck in the stone of the manor, and crossed arrows, painted green, were affixed about the windows. Bats stuck out above the roof, canaries nested in the flechetts, and glowing discs of lights illuminated entrances and exits. There were other representations of other heroes as well, the ones inside so subtle you almost missed them, and guests amused themselves by walking around, attempting to uncover the clues, the way one might uncover the hero's identity.
Alfred greeted guests as they arrived, dressed as the Green Lantern; the original Green Lantern, Alan Scott, who was a Gothamite, and one of the earlier known heroes. Bruce did not appear for a while, but when he did, he was not alone. He wore green slacks and a matching vest over a white shirt, with a trench coat and fedora in a darker green on top. His tie was green, as well, as was the mask he wore, covering the upper portion of his face.
But he was completely distracted from the ridiculous necessity of costumes (all irony aside) by the sight of his 2014 Bugatti Veyron, which he'd driven through the front door that afternoon and parked in the foyer, because, of course, the Green Hornet has to have Black Beauty close by. At least, that was what Bruce Wayne would argue.
