Who: Wanda, Vision, Loki and npc Eira. Where: New York library When: August 13, 2014 What: The family is out and about, cruising books. Rating: PG
Vision looked over to where Loki was sitting with Eira in the kid section. The two were happily looking over books together at the small table, Loki reading to Eira and Eira hanging on to his every word and turning the pages demandingly. There were many ill things that could be said about the boy’s behavior, but he did seem to get along well with Eira, and for the most part Eira did with him as well. Even though the boy could manipulate easily away from her bossing him. This caused her quite a bit of crossness when she noticed it.
Loki also had an aptitude for telling stories in an entertaining way, so now if Eira wanted to be read to, Loki was the one she took her books to insistently. If he wasn’t about, Eira brought them to Wanda. Vision had been accepted by her now as a parental figure, but his synthetic voice tended to bore her, and he had no talent in inflecting the characters in the stories (even if he could now manipulate his voice electronically however he pleased--but of course didn’t).
Satisfied that the story teller and child were behaving properly, Vision turned to where Wanda was browsing the library shelves. She had wanted to go somewhere, but not leave Loki home alone where he could potentially sneak away again. He was still quite grounded for not asking to leave for a few weeks and stealing from Dr. Blake. Vision was actually a little shocked the free-willed boy was dutifully weathering the punishment. Perhaps it was because he had been disappointed when returning from Asgard, even though he had admitted Dr. Blake being able to turn to Thor from memory nudges alone was unlikely.
“I think my earlier doubt was unfounded. It seems to have been a good idea to bring both out for a short outing.” A brief pause. “Even if the library still does not have the next book in the series I am reading yet.” He was in the middle of an interesting historical romance series. No, the synthezoid didn’t comply to the stereotype that romances were for only for women. Vision just liked if they were well-written, well-plotted, and contained likable, non-whimsical characters. Still, there were other books he could read while he waited, and he eyed the shelves briefly before looking to Wanda. “What are you selecting?”
