The city was quieter tonight than usual. It often put Batman on edge, waiting for the other shoe to drop, but tonight he was too tired to spare the energy. It had been four days since he'd last slept, and although that wasn't the longest he'd gone without a decent night's sleep, things were starting to dull around the edges. He either needed to meditate for an hour, or get a few hours sleep before his morning meeting.
A flash of movement on the rooftops caught his eye, and Batman turned to look instinctively, eyes narrowing as he pressed the button on his glove that would switch the lenses in his cowl to night vision. Peering into the deepening shadows, Batman froze in shock.
"It can't be," he murmured.
Shooting a d-cell line to a near building, Batman swung silently down to join the figure moving in the darkness. From this distance, there was no mistaking her figure.
