Looking out over the city, it didn't seem to Selina that place had changed very much at all.
The view from the top of the Gotham Ritz Carlton was the best there was, the hotel was positioned, designed, to give those with money the best view that they could buy. And she had money to burn – for now at least. She wasn't staying in the penthouse - no - that would be asking for too much attention, but she had a large room near the top of the building with ceiling to floor windows. She smiled at the thought of it, the luxury. She smiled thinking of the warm room and soft sheets she could afford again.
But she wasn't in that room looking out. No. Selina was standing on the roof, and she really did feel more comfortable up there than in the saloon bar or restaurant. She's been in the hotel for three days and had only set foot outside once to get a newspaper, and check that her favourite coffee place hadn't moved or closed down.
She had begun to get cabin fever, and it didn't suit her.
So she stood on the roof. The camel trench wrapped around her tightly, collar up to stop the wind blowing into her eyes. She looked downwards towards the streets below. Busy, bustling Gotham at it's finest. Her eyes sparkled with anticipation. It had been a while after all. She slowly reached down, pulling at the clasp on her coat, loosening the belt that kept it tight to her form. As it flicked open she reached into the coat pocket, grasping at the cowl and goggles which lay within. She reached up with them in her hands, pulling the cowl over her head, over her hair which she had carefully pinned into place. The goggles slipped easily over it.
Maybe she'd have to cut her hair, after all it would make life easier, but it seemed like such a shame.
Selina shed the coat quickly, turning to place it in a nearby air vent, her body enjoying the feel of the leather cat suit against her skin. Part of her wondered if anyone in this town would remember who she was, 6 months was a long time in Gotham. She hoped so, grabbing the headlines as Catwoman had been one of her favourite things.
Slowly she reached to her side, feeling the end of her whip, pulling it out slightly.
With and smile and crack, she set off, a sudden streak of black silhouetted against the light the moon and neon lights were casting down on the hotel. She wasn't out for anything tonight, just looking over a few old haunts, checking to see if anything had changed. Maybe she'd slip though the east end, for old times sake. For now she headed towards the financial district, towards the tallest buildings.
There was no harm in a little practice, after all, she did feel a little rusty.
