Bruce took being compared to Dinah's mother as a compliment, and gave her a private smile. "You think she would approve?" he murmured. "You'll be fine," he said louder. "Just be natural." She had an agenda, that was good. It would make what they ought to accomplish today easier.
The look he threw Maria was barely above annoyance. "Of course there are no bugs here." He had personally designed all the security. Bruce could only not fault her for checking because he would have done it himself. He almost agreed with Hal, but aside from a brief look, said, "I doubt there will be any at the studio either, but it's worth checking. And, no - " Oliver, as usual, was missing the point. "Hill may want to avoid inquiries into her business, but our goal is to drag them deeper into ours. At least parts of it."
Oliver was new to all of this. Dinah had brought him up to speed, but either he'd not been paying attention and needed a refresher, or he hadn't received some of the finer details. "If we're out in front of the cameras - if Dinah is on television as Black Canary, answering questions about who she is and what she does, it pulls all the focus off of the people and things we don't want them paying attention to." Oliver could probably think of a few people who fit that description.
He turned his attention back to Dinah. "I think that among the five of us, we can come up with some of the questions they might ask you, and help you prepare answers and anecdotes that you're comfortable with, so that you're not caught unaware, or get forced into an answer you didn't want to give. You have things you want to say, so let's make sure you get to say them, no matter what they ask. Alright?"
