He let out a little sigh at the feeling of her fingers in his hair, and even smiled very faintly. "Perhaps. But even if I had left, I would have ended up back here, probably. Some kind of strange cycle between myself and this city."
He lifted his head to look up at her, surprised. "You worried? About me?" The faint smile grew a little, and with his good hand, he cupped her face briefly. "My obsessions aren't so simple, sadly. They've been growing a long time, and I'm afraid they won't be going away anytime soon."
And suddenly he was being hugged, and he huffed out a little bark of laughter. "Not this time, darling, but if I change my mind, you'll be the first to know."
