Tony forgetting his birthday was no big thing. Tony not being drunk on his birthday was something to be noted, even if that particular circumstance was becoming increasingly rare these days. Pepper had noticed, but considering the date, she assumed he either wasn't yet aware that it was his birthday, or that his attempt to flee the state was an effort to escape that fact.
Leaving her laptop, an email half composed, Pepper stood and circled the island to the opposite side to join him, looking up at the scroll that would have said the same thing on her side. "And you can amply apply the 45 SPF sunscreen every hour to make sure I don't get sunburned?" She smiled at him, wrapping one arm around his. "I don't tan, you know."
But it did sound nice, even worth a sunburn. They'd never taken a vacation like this; or at all, really. They'd attempted to take a working vacation in Sochi, and that had ended terribly. A day in California, on the beaches, just the two of them... she liked the idea. And for his birthday, it sounded perfect; somewhere they could forget about the past and hopefully only think about the good things.
Pepper nodded, a pleased smile curving her lips. "I'll go change." She tiptoed up to kiss him. "Downstairs in 15?"
