He had not been prepared for the history lesson. Batman had rarely spoken more than a sentence to him alone and Hal had expected the same courtesy when it came to his questions. He should have known that with Dinah's involvement there was going to be a college level course involved. As Bruce began to divulge Ra's history he struggled not to roll his eyes and insist on speeding the process up. He should have taken this moment as just that, something to savor and brag about later, but he had never been Batman's biggest fan and he sure as hell wasn't about to start.
"I know about Ra's," Hal interrupt momentarily. Dinah had shared enough with him that he had the big picture. He was glad that Bruce at least had the courtesy of not sharing. The world would be doomed if Batman ever became a gossip.
The rest of Ra's reach, the League he controlled, the insanity of his family, had Hal standing straighter. These were clearly people not to upset, but it seemed that both Dinah and Bruce were on opposing sides, which put Hal right next to him, like it or not. He had never fought a ninja, but he liked to think with his abilities he could handle whatever Ra's and his shadow posse had to throw at him. That said, if Batman was worried about Ra's, Talia, of the moniker of Ubu, he knew he should have been, but a year away from humanity left him feeling less than human. People were frail, which meant even an immortal like Ra's al Ghul was not an impossible target. Hal shook his head to focus himself, knowing that thoughts like that would only lead to trouble.
It was then that he took insult. "You really think some beautiful broad is going to distract me?" Loathe as he was to admit it, it had happened before, but this time was different. This time the dangerous, sultry women were competing against Dinah Lance. They never stood a chance. "Bru-Bats, I can handle this," he said seriously. "You know it, I know it, what you're telling me is nothing but word fodder. I've got this," he assured once more. "Trust me."
