Bruce waited, without expression, for Hal to respond, to accept his hand, or not. The truth was, although he would never say it aloud, that he needed Hal. Dinah had turned down his request to move in with him, and it was clear he couldn't be with her all the time. No one could, but someone could be around at least some of the time he couldn't, and it was someone he knew would put her life above his own.
When Hal finally accepted his hand, and issued warning, the corner of Bruce's mouth tugged upward in a smile. "I wouldn't respect you if you did."
Pulling his cowl back on over his head, Bruce reverted to Batman's voice. "There's one more thing: I know she told you about the danger she's in. Knowing her, she downplayed it. Keep sharp. She doesn't believe Ra's will kill her, and I'm not convinced either, but Talia is another matter, entirely."
