Hal listened intently to the long explanation that Bruce allowed him. He had not expected story time to be part of the deal, but he had to admit, it was nice getting a genuine answer that reveled around more than the growl of a 'yes' or 'no'. He had no idea that Bruce and Dinah had such a long history. He knew a lot of Dinah's life, more than most, but the timeline of early life events was never one that he tried to put in order.
When his feelings were so blatantly put before him, he shifted uncomfortably. Hal did love Dinah and she loved him. Their lives had been intertwined for so long that it was impossible for them not to care for one another. Even so, he did not need anyone else telling him just how he felt or what he would do with such a bond. He could accept that maybe, just maybe, Bruce had similar motives. Far more romantic, but he had to accept that he was not the only one who would do anything in their power to keep Dinah safe. The wonderful burden had to be shared. That was, after all, the very reason he had come to Batman a year ago.
He remained in a rigid stance ever after the glove came off, but after a moment of internal debate, he extended his own hand. The glow of his uniform vanished, revealing street clothes beneath, and he took hold of Bruce's hand firmly. "This doesn't mean I'm going to take it easy on you," Hal warned before he cracked a grin.
