Re: Dinah and Bruce
"Oh," he said casually, not without a degree of amusement. "I haven't done so badly." Of course, most of them had been interested in his chandeliers - and the house they were attached to. "I'm not really interested in the ones who are interested in my chandeliers. Aside from the obvious, it's not very romantic."
He kept forgetting that Oliver was a different breed of animal than he was. It wasn't that Oliver didn't use his money for noble causes, he was just more subtle about it. "We all have our causes. The way he chooses to live, few people realize that Dick has quite a bit of money in his own right, even aside from anything I would give him. He saw what happens when circuses don't have the money to be properly cared for, and the circus was his home long enough for him to want to see its survival as much as possible." The circus was not his passion as it was his adopted son's, but he cared very much that Dick cared, and that it made him happy.
Ordering two funnel cakes, Bruce shook his head. "You do not fool me, Ms. Lance," he replied with mock solemnity. "You would hate getting everything you wanted very quickly." And would probably get rather frustrated with him for giving it to her, too. "Which is why I'm going to eat both of these funnel cakes and insist on winning you a Batman instead. After that, I'll agree to ride the Ferris Wheel with you." He pretended he wasn't going to give her one of the pastries.
