Who: Dinah Lance, Mia Dearden NPCs: Ted "Wildcat" Grant What: Dinah introduces Mia to her Dear Ol' Uncle Ted. Where: Grant's Gym, Gotham City, NJ When: Saturday, September 14th, 2013 [backdated, slightly]
"So where'd ya pick up this kid again?" Ted asked, tugging at the ties on his boxing gloves with his teeth, tucking the extra string down into the open edge of the glove.
"She's Ollie's kid. He found her a couple years ago... or I guess she found him. He adopted her last year. She just moved into college last week." Dinah supplied, climbing up into the ring before pulling her own gloves on-- her own gloves that fastened with velco and were a lot easier to get on and off by ones self.
Ted crashed one of his fists into the palm of his opposite hand, testing his gloves and stepping back into his corner. "She box?"
"Not yet." Dinah replied with a grin, moving to the corner opposite of Ted, who snorted a laugh.
Ted Grant, the former World Heavyweight Champion, stretched his barrel-like arms over the ropes in the corner of the ring, his face breaking into a fierce grin across the ring at his student, "We'll fix that right quick."
"Hey now, don't go too hard on her." Dinah warned, holding her mouth guard in one clumsy, gloved hand.
"Aww don't worry, doll. If there's one thing yer old Uncle Ted knows, it's how ta teach someone th'ropes. I taught you, didn't I?"
"Yeah, but you're getting old now." She quipped, tapping the side of her head with one glove, smirking, "Too many concussions. "
"I been old since 'fore you were born, Junior." He returned, rolling his blue eyes and scratching a patch of salt-and-pepper scruff on his jaw with one glove, "You gonna stand around and tease an old man or get down to brass tacks?" He said, giving her a wink before putting in his own mouth guard.
"Oh now you're asking for it, old timer." She teased, but put her mouth guard in.
They probably had time for a round or two before Mia showed up.
