It was rumoured that Hippolyta, whom many of those she decreed as 'The Amazons', had given birth to Diana without not just a father being present, but with no father at all. But that rumour wasn't the one that bothered so many outside of the Amazon village; the real rumour (which had some truth to it) was that a group of wild women had set up a village with the help of not a single man. And no man had ever set foot inside the village, fearing that these women would ...scalp them. Or worse.
Some of those stories were true; some were not. Certainly, the Amazons knew the truth of themselves and laughed about them on the cold nights when the campfires roared. Diana paid the stories no mind; those outside of their sanctuary could believe what they wanted of her people. For right now, she was busy leading a group on a hunt for buffalo. After proving herself worthy, mother had appointed her with the task of leading her people for food and she did not want to let the Amazons down.
The food they obtained would be shared among their own people and they would trade the pelts with the people of The Town and those in farms who lived just outside of the Town. Diana nudged her horse forward, noting that her companions were weary and in need of rest. There was little sun left and a chill was beginning to set in. "We'll break for camp soon. Tomorrow, the hunt begins."
