Billy pressed his fingers to his temples. The last thing he had wanted in all of this was an interrogation, however well-meaning. Even so, one can't simply announce that they erased themselves from their friends lives without said friends having questions. And he knew the answer to Wanda's question the second she asked. He just didn't necessarily want to answer it, at least not with Teddy in the room.
His mind drifted back to the conversation in his room, where Teddy had pressed the fact that he had been very distant and evasive. Billy knew that Teddy deserved the truth, especially since he couldn't remember it. Billy could only imagine what the reaction might be if he were to lie here and now and the other teen remember. He already felt like they were on shaky ground, no matter how they might have been acting toward each other the last couple days.
So he took a breath and mentally prepared for the fallout before speaking. "Teddy and I had a fight, well not really. It was about as much of a fight as Teddy has though." Stop trying to make light of it, Kaplan, he scolded himself inwardly. "There had been a thought nagging at me that the only reason we were together was because I had magically compelled him to be with me, that it wasn't true. We had words and I told him to leave. After he was gone, all I wanted to do was forget the whole stupid thing, the magic, the fight, everything."
He didn't really look at anyone after that. He just stood, careful to avoid everyone's gaze.
"Maybe you're right. Maybe I did do all of this. Maybe I should just go before I mess something else up." The desire to leave was more for his own well-being than for theirs. He didn't want to see the disappointment that was sure to follow.
