Billy gulped loudly, crimson flushing already blooming in his cheeks. He took a few unsteady breaths, trying to still his suddenly racing heart. He tried to speak, but the first words came out a garbled, pitchy mess.
Surely Teddy didn't mean what he thought he meant. That would be too forward? Would it though? It had been a couple of months at least, practically a lifetime for people their age in relationships. And it had been twice as long for Billy than it had been for Teddy, with the memories being factored in. And, Billy would be lying if he tried to say that the thought of spending the rest of his life with Teddy had never crossed his mind. More than a few daydreams had been spent imagining himself as Mr. Altman... or Teddy as Mr. Kaplan. But no, it must have just been a phrase or something... right?
Swallowing again, Billy attempted to regain some sort of his dignity, and keep things light.
"Forever is an awfully long time. I think I'd have to eventually tell my parents about you." He shrugged as well as he could given their positioning.
