The woman expected him to go for the exit, and was a bit surprised when he passed the sign for the elevator. Instead he was heading to the door that went to the walkway over the cells. It was locked down.
She folded her arms as he studied the keypad. “It takes a key code, and you will not get it out of me. It’s no use, C-11. It takes three times your strength to budge any of the-.”
Teddy planted his feet and wrapped his claws around the edges. A single grunt and yank and the door was ripped completely from its hinges and being tossed aside. He glared at her while grabbing her arm again. “Guess they don’t make them like they used to.” He hauled her up the ramp and into the control room over the cells.
“You were playing us false,” she snapped at him.
“Shut it, lady.” He was looking over the windows in the rooms, looking over the controls. “I took a chance hoping you weren’t really going to squish me to death. Why would you deactivate the collar, after all? By the way, lying still while you pick through my body does not make me good company... Ahah!” Tommy. He looked like he was sleeping. Everyone did. Teddy looked quickly at the control panel in front of him. Big red button with “Collar control” neatly labeled over it. He pressed Tommy’s and several others, the green light turning red. Now he just needed to open the doors.
The other side of the walkway’s ramp doors opened, a troop of armoured guards with guns hurrying up. The first two knelt and four guns took aim toward him. Teddy was about to simply armor himself against them, when he heard gunmen coming up the other direction as well. “Fire at will!”
What? They were going to shoot down the woman as well? Teddy suddenly had an armored wing whipping about her as the bullets flew, and leapt straight up, claws digging into the ceiling briefly before flipping feet first into it. Thank you, Spider-man, for all the practice.
“Let go of me, you inhuman brute!”
“I think the last few days have proven I’m way more human than you guys,” Teddy grumped as he scrambled as adept as any lizard through the narrow ceiling away from the bullets tearing up at them. He found the gap opening to a new room and followed the wires that way, escaping the firepower for now.
He didn’t want to leave without Tommy, but he didn’t see any way back now. He had to get up and out, get help if they didn’t make it. So he pulled his captive along the direction he had seen the elevators. He could break out of them and climb right up the shaft without much difficulty, he thought. More men came around the corner, bullets clipping at their heels as they turned to the exit and he released her in front of the elevator. He paused, glancing to see what she did as he watched the incoming soldiers warily. She made a disgusted sound, stepping into the elevator, and Teddy stepped in right behind her.
The elevator chimed pleasantly, and Teddy looked at the floor buttons. They all required an elevator key. “Crap,” Teddy muttered, then held out his finger, starting to form it into the keyhole’s shape and prod inside at the metal notches. He only just saw the brunette out of the corner of his as she slid a panel back and slapped a large button.
“Elevator locked down. Two life forms detected. Only one person is permitted to leave the area at this time.
