"Me too." He said quietly though he didn't look at her when she left. It took forever, and that was the worst part. To him, it took her hours to walk away- hours that he had to think about how dumb a move that had been and how he shouldn't just let her go and they should try to make things work and how much this sucked and how stupid he was. Hours that he spent wanting to just go back for five minutes.
But he didn't go after her, and Bart waited a few minutes after she had left to pay their bill. One minute the waitress was going to get a receipt and when she looked up again there was no evidence the redheaded boy had even been there, except for a full plate of pancakes and a strange gust of wind that shook the plastic table cloth.
