"Good because that's all you're getting." She shot right back at Mia with a grin, though even Dinah cringed at the grinding. She was going to have to look over the transmission when they finished up here- just to make sure it hadn't actually dropped out of the car while they weren't looking.
"Don't listen to her, Connor." She said encouragingly, putting her hand over his on the shift and helping him find the right gear so the worst sound in the world stopped. "Second." She pointed out about the gears, so he would learn where second was- though she returned right back to the original conversation and let him drive on his own again. "You can get a date with whomever you want. Anyone worth dating won't care that you can't drive stick... or anything faster than a moped." She shot Mia a wink through the rearview mirror and, after a few more drills of dropping speed and shifting down to first then speeding back up and popping into second, Dinah gave a new challenge-- to get the car all the way up to third gear.
"When you hit about 25 mph-- when the RPMs get back up to 2500-3000-ish-- shift up into third gear. This'll take us up to 40 miles per hour... which you're going to need if you hope to outrun anyone on horseback."
