Steve, Cissie, Lex Luthor, and a Bart Cameo (And Open if anyone wants)
When she'd realized that Captain America was there she'd gotten excited. This thing was more of a success than she'd even imagined it could be. And then when he'd addressed her directly her eyes had gone wide. Her name was on the paperwork that had been filed with City Hall, that had to be how he knew her name but ... being spoken to by Captain America! No, being thanked by Captain America. Yes. She didn't even know the question but yes! But this was not the place to lose it and be a fangirl; this was the time to be an adult and to take the thanks gracefully.
And then someone yelled for a speech. And time slowed a bit. Captain America said something that she caught the gist of and held out a hand (SHIELD HAND!) for her to stand up next to him and say something. And she froze. A speech? She couldn't give a speech. She didn't have anything prepared. She had put this together, yes but she didn't have any real public speaking skills. She didn't even really feel all that comfortable outside of her costume - well... she did now. And she was about to accept the offered hand when a new group made their presence known - President Luthor and his black suited goons.
And she froze again. She looked between the President and the Captain realizing that had turned from a moment where she was frozen in disbelief to one where she was being stared down by the "leader of the free world." She heard the Captain's words and took a shaky breath, not sure of herself, that was until she heard a very familiar voice yelling over the crowd. She turned quickly, her hair whipping around her shoulders and she saw Bart standing on a table with his guitar! What was that he was playing... When she recognized it the thought that went through her head before she took a deep breath was to wonder whether the Captain had heard this song before.
God, this wasn't what she was expecting when she'd decided to do this... Cissie turned, shooting a smile and a thumbs up at Bart before reaching up and grabbing Captain America's still-offered hand. "It would be a shame to waste this opportunity, especially with such an esteemed audience," she smiled mischievously grabbing at the wrist for a better grip as she'd been taught.
She pulled herself up without any real difficulty (if she could keep up with the bad guys a two foot jump to a truck with assistance was nothing), and stood up pushing some hair out of her face. She could do this; she didn't have the bullhorn, Melanie still had that (they were all a bit stunned), but she could do this. Right? She took a breath and steadied herself, glancing at Cap for a second before starting.
"I want to thank everyone for coming here today. In some cases skipping work and classes," she chuckled at this. "But we're here for a reason! We're here because we cannot allow history to repeat itself. We are here to show the people in charge," her eyes went to Luthor when she said it, "that the disenfranchisement of any group is NOT okay." She paused there for a moment, giving the crowd a chance to react. She was coming up with this from the top of her head, remembering Ms. Frost's classes. "We need to stand together and show the people in Washington that we won't allow the rights of any group to be tread upon." She paused again. A smile coming to her lips. She had a line that she wanted to use... but she wasn't sure about it. Not all metahumans and mutants were heroes, but... "Some of the people that are being targeted are the heroes that put their own lives on the line on a daily basis to keep us all safe! And I can almost guarantee that everyone here knows someone effected by the implementation of the act, whether directly or indirectly. Well, it's time. After everything that they've done for us, it is our turn to be there to support them! To make sure that their rights are and continue to be protected!"
Cissie stopped talking and smiled, and then paused. Had she just said that? That had been her right? She looked out at Bart and then to Captain America who was next to her... Yeah she'd just said that. Holy shit. 'Keep it together. You can hyperventilate when you're NOT in front of hundreds of people.' She was going to be in SO much trouble on Monday...
