Who: Pietro Maximoff (Narrative /Open) Where: New York City When: April 30, 2013 What: Pietro is an ass. But maybe sometimes he's a little less of one. (Like he's not going to let someone's stuffed toy get turned into stuffed toy roadkill.) Rating: G
He was quite confidant that he could make that light, could be across the crosswalk and to the other side of the intersection before the cars had even started moving forward. But the man that he was purchasing the newspaper from was moving slowly even for a person who was not gifted with super speed. And he would notice if Pietro suddenly vanished from view. Normally Pietro would have not cared about that, but he was not that far from Wanda's apartment, and he was often in this area so he liked to keep his profile low.
By the time Pietro had snatched the change out of the other mans hand and started moving down the sidewalk he still felt he could have made the light, watching as it turned from the silhouette of a person to a flashing red hand.
A woman was crossing the street with her child, and no Pietro didn't smile as he watched them. Just because he enjoyed spending time with Wanda and her daughter did not mean that he liked children now. He might have almost smiled but it was just a coincidence.
The child that was being escorted across the crosswalk was dawdling and the adult with them gave a quick tug on their hand, and the child dropped a hold of the stuffed rabbit they were carrying. The kid seemed shocked by this turn of events, opened their mouth but didn't start crying until they were on the sidewalk and the rabbit was out there in the middle of the intersection.
And the light was about to change.
Pietro sighed, tucked his newspaper into his jacket and then speed forward, he was back beside the screaming child, holding out the stuffed rabbit to them as the light changed to a solid hand telling people to not walk. The mother of the child blinked up at Pietro; "How did -"
"Excuse me." Pietro sped away, moving away from Wanda's apartment, before circling back. So much for a low profile. But it would have hurt his ears to hear that child screaming about their rabbit.
