Who: Hal Jordan & Carol Ferris (NPC) Where: Ferris Aircraft, Coast City, CA When: April 4, 2012 What: Hal gets a promotion! In New York! Rating: G
The raucous laughter that came from Carol's office could belong to only one man. "You are funny, Carol, but April Fool's was a few days ago," Hal said, gasping to catch his breath after his amusement.
Carol Ferris' eyes were narrowed, knowing there was nothing she could do but wait it out. It would be the only way to get Hal to listen. "This isn't a joke, Hal. I need you there. At least until everything is established."
Hal wiped a mirthful tear from his eye and shook his head, still amused by the thought of being put in charge of the new branch of Ferris Aircraft, no matter how temporary it was. "Not a chance. I'm not leaving Coast City for," he paused, his nose curling in distaste at the words about to follow, "New York. Have you ever been there?"
"Yes, Hal, I've been to New York City. I was the one setting up our new branch after all," she said, sounding exasperated. "You're going."
"No I'm not."
"There's a penthouse already for you. The company will be paying for it along with any other expenditures you may incur while in the city." Carol leaned across the desk, her resolve softening for just a moment. "I need someone I can trust on this, Hal."
That got him and it showed in the way his features softened. "Fine," he agreed, not looking at her. "But if this takes longer than a year, we're switching places, got it?"
Carol smiled and nodded. "You've got yourself a deal, Mr. Jordan."
Hal pulled himself from the high-backed leather chair and started to the door. He turned the handle, but did not exit. "You do know Oliver's in New York now, don't you?" He walked out before she could respond, grinning widely to himself when he heard an annoyed groan behind him.
