It was his evening off and he still wound up in surgery; by this point in his life, Erik was more amused and resigned than fundamentally upset. Such was the life of a doctor, particularly one who'd been a military doc. As soon as you stripped off your scrubs, settled in with a MASH marathon and a bowl of chili, you got paged for something in your general field.
He had to admit, though, getting called by a private patient and cajoled into seeing a superhero with unknown injuries in his home was a new one. The lack of DNA tests were at least easy to agree to; he didn't have the equipment here for one, and for two, that was more a matter for primary care physicians. Others were having very serious, reflective discussions on the new health care act; when he got them, he was usually more concerned with them living, period, not living healthily.
At least he had the general equipment he needed here. Erik considered logistics, considered who he was about to see, and opened the window of his kitchen before stripping the table of anything unnecessary, and hunted up the best disinfectant he could find, tossing a few towels over one chair. His black bag he always had close to hand, and while he waited, he went over his supplies; it was a comforting ritual, and silenced the impatience to do something - he didn't have a patient yet and anyways, he didn't even know what was going to be needed. Once he got the patient, though, then he could move as decisively as necessary.
