Who: Arthur Curry
NPCs: Tom Curry and Atlanna (Arthur's Dad and Mom!)
When: August 1987
Where: Amnesty Bay, MA
What: Retro scene! A 13-Year-Old Arthur and his father deal with the passing of his mother and some really big news from her.
The smell of the sea lured Arthur toward it as he took of his shoes and sat on the shore. Arthur had lost his mother today. He didn't yet know how to process these emotions, so he needed some time alone. His father probably did as well. Walking deeper into the ocean, Arthur closed his eyes and dropped himself underwater. He swam as fast as he could until he reached a vast, almost empty area of the water. It was then he finally felt a little peace. He let his mind wander, flashing back to some of his most vivid memories with his mother.

"IT'S ARTHUR!" Tom shouted, running toward the water, rocks piercing the bottom of his feet. He scooped his son up who had been submerged and held him tight. Arthur was only about five at the time and didn't know any better.
"Arthur, are you alright?!" Tom shouted. Arthur nodded and looked away, fearing he was in trouble. He had just been playing, like a normal child.
"You were underwater. Like it was nothing!" he said, then he noticed Arthur's fearful look, "It's alright, Arthur. What you were doing is just fine," he smiled at his son.

The room seemed to swim around Arthur and his father. They stood by Atlanna who was lying in bed, sweating. They all knew she didn't have much longer. Arthur didn't know whether he was angry or sad he barely got to spend any time with her before she got sick.
"Arthur, come here," she said, beckoning him closer, "Let me tell you a story."
It was then Atlanna revealed everything. Things Tom didn't even know. Atlantis was a real place. She was royalty there. After she had saved Tom from the wreckage of a horrible storm, they fell in love and conceived Arthur. Fearing trouble in Atlantis, the then pregnant Atlanna returned to the city, but was banished.
"I couldn't return here," she explained, "They would've killed Tom. The whole city was in turmoil. Our government corrupt."
She paused for a moment, wrapping her pinky around Arthur's, "That's your city Arthur. You are to be king."

Arthur swam back up to the surface. He was still a kid, still developing whatever these "powers" were (some people had been calling similar occurrences mutations). It was a lot for him to deal with, especially now. He had no reason to think his mom was a liar, but how would he even find Atlantis?
He could see his dad's lighthouse, but it was so far out it looked like a toddler's toy. The ocean had helped clear his head a bit, but he knew he needed to be with his father now. He headed back toward the shore, reaching speeds he never thought capable. Some smaller fish trailed him. Lately Arthur had discovered an affinity for sea life. Now it made sense. There was communication there. He couldn't "talk" to them, but marine life seemed to sense him. Follow him. The fish dissipated as he reached the rocky surface. Tom was standing outside the lighthouse, staring out into the water. There weren't any words to be said, so Arthur simply walked up and wrapped his arms around his father.
Atlantis or not, this is where he was needed.
