In an instant, Cissie was attacked by a barrage of words. She sat there, focusing on what he was saying, trying to pick out and separate each of them.
While she was not entirely successful, she thought she got at least some of it. "Okay, gimme a second here," she said with a chuckle. "So you're Grandpa came back, and now you're living with Wally. What do you mean Max is missing?" Once she was sure that she'd heard that, she sat up even straighter. Yes she was glad that he had a girlfriend now, hell it was possibly the best news that she'd gotten since she'd moved here! "I'm sorry, you lost me after the rest of it..." she looked sheepish, knowing that he hadn't meant to. She shot him a smile. "But seriously... he's just... No one knows where he is?" He'd sent testimony for the hearing, as the person who'd called Children's Services he'd had to. How could he just be missing?
Whatever he was a reservist for, he seemed to be pretty happy about it. And that was good... Even if Max being missing was bad.
Cissie took a sip of her drink, taking a moment before answering her friend's question. "Yep, I'm here to stay. In fact, if I leave and don't check in, I think they'd probably send someone after me... given that I'm a minor and all." She pushed some stray hair back behind her ears. "I was hoping that Max was here... I sort of wanted to thank him. And you of course. They took me away from mom, she's undergoing counciling and I'm going to a private school uptown." She had something in her eyes, a mischevious gleam. As if there was something else she wasn't saying.
