Reed Richards was a historical figure for Miguel. He was different than most of the heroes of the current era, in that Miguel O'Hara had been familiar with his work from childhood on, as one of the greatest minds of any century. Most of the other superheroes hadn't gone down in history quite as well, to the point that Miguel largely considered them -- even Spider-Man, who'd become his namesake -- as fictional characters. The stuff of folklore. Heck, Richard's stretching power was something that most 2099-era scholars had dismissed as fiction. In hindsight, Miguel realized that was probably an attempt by the megacorps in charge to bury the history of the First Heroic Age any way they could.
But now that Miguel was living in a period that was a lot closer to the First Heroic Age, he had an opportunity to meet the man himself. And Dr. Richards could possibly help him, because the man's head (not to mention his lab) was full of exotic physics and the kind of dimensional/temporal mechanics that would come in handy. He could brainstorm with the good doctor.
This was going to be shockin' amazing.
Gliding toward the Baxter Building with the web-like cloth on the back of his costume, the Spider-Man from 2099 landed on the side of the building, gripping the vertical surface with the talons on his fingers and toes. Looking through the window, he could see a lounge area where Benjamin Grimm -- the mountainous Thing -- was sitting in a reinforced chair, watching TV. Richards was nowhere to be found, so he started climbing upward, hoping Richads' lab had a window overlooking the outside world.
