Who: The Joker and Harley Quinn Where: The clown duo's love nest When: January of 2012 What: The Joker awakes in the middle of the night as the victim of inspiration Rating: Who knows!
Sleep was never something that came easily to The Joker. His mind was too busy with itself, musing over the tiniest of details or subjecting him to the most gut busting of horrific disasters. Eventually though his body would succumb to the need for sleep and he would pass out. And each morning he usually awoke, not where he'd fallen, but in bed with Harley curled up against his side.
Today had been no different, save for the fact it was still the middle of the night. His eyes snapped open on their own accord. Long legs propelled him up and out of bed. Silently he ghosted through the abandoned chemical plant that served as their home. A small drawing table had been set up with a single desk lamp in one corner. A yellow legal pad was covered in mindless scribbles but the clown ripped the top several layers off and put pen to paper.
For hours he drew out the things he saw in his head. Twists and turns to keep everyone guessing. Lists of guest stars were jotted down and scratched through. No one was ever good enough. Not for this fun. No, he'd need to hand pick those he wanted at the time in question. Only then could he ensure the maximum amount of fun for Batman and himself. But what could he use to set this apart from everything else? What could be used to asterisk this particular from the previous jokes? He didn't need a punch line.. he needed an opener.
