The Wakandan Consulate took one entire half of the street, rising up four stories from behind fifteen foot brick walls. Red sandstone stood out against the dark, gothic architecture of Gotham city. Where gargoyles and demons protected other buildings, panthers perched on the corners of this one, each one black as night. Security was extremely tight, with Gotham PD controlling the flow of vehicles at each end of the street, and armed Wakandan soldiers admitting the party guests. Scanners, force-fields and energy grids the likes of which the modern world had never seen were all present and active, most invisible to any but the most skilled observers.
Within the walls, a beautiful garden replete with strange and exotic plants led up to the building itself. Dozens of party-goers mingled on amongst the flowers, while more still made their way up the sandstone steps to the building within. The consulate's white walls were lavishly decorated. Art and antiques from ancient tribes sat alongside strange ultra-modern installations, using holograms and lasers in tune with the background music. In one room, a group in tribal dress played traditional drums and pipes, as a group of well dressed onlookers watched. Next to them, a children's choir sang, made up entirely of HIV positive children from across the African continent. The windows of the building looked out on live holographic feeds of various regions of Wakanda- from the jungle to the m'sui plains. On the second floor, a ballroom played modern music, while a bar served drinks from around the world.
It was an exotic and wonderful affair- one which all in attendance would remember for some time to come...
