"Um, no thanks, I'm good," she managed to say in return to an offer of alcohol. "I'm actually with someone..." But then the crowd parted (with help from Kristoff's gauntlets) and he appeared, looking angry and annoyed.
"It's okay," she told him hurriedly and worriedly. "I'm okay, really." More yells from the bar and group counting indicated that someone had started up a round of keg stands. The band was desperately trying to keep playing despite the cacophony of noise, but it was losing battle.
Maxine took a look around at the scene, the chaos, the blurry faces and expressions, the stumbling people barely into adulthood, and then looked at Kristoff once more. "Let's go home."
