"Maybe... not quite yet..." he murmured awkwardly. He was blushing. He knew he was. There was no way he could keep it from his face.
But he was definitely getting the hang of it, becoming more confident with the foot motion--which was a majority of the battle. Though, learning how to stop was a different matter. He wobbled at first when he pushed his heels out and toes in to brace against the ice, but a few practices and it was fine.
So reluctantly he released the others' hand with a timid smile and did his best to keep up with him. Billy was, thankfully, patient. It didn't take long until Teddy was gliding beside him smoothly, and, yes, falling on his butt whenever he tried something new or was trying to not run into things. But each time he laughed he just grinned and got right back up.
Then they passed someone on the walk and Teddy turned backward, pointing with his glove. "Hey, they have hot cocoa. I want hot co-!" Whump! Skating backward was not as easy as some made it look. But, of course, he was up again, grinning. "Hot cocoa?"
