Adventures in R&D
Who: Ted Kord and Barbra Gordon
NPCS: Various Kord Inc employees
Where: Kord Omniversal Research and Development Inc - NY Offices
When: March 30th, 2012.
What: Ted and Bab's date. He shows her around the Kord Building
Rating: G [safe for everyone!]
Ted was maybe a little less nervous this time around - he'd say on a scale of one to ten that he was probably around a - oh around a seven. Online interaction was still really easy and nerve free when he was talking to Roll- Barbra, but face to face, he was finding it a bit nerve wracking. He did tend to type and then go; "oh shit why did I type that?" but it was somehow worse when he was talking to her face to face and he had those moments. Thankfully she seemed beyond cool - so cool that Ted had to wonder what the catch was. No one was smart, hot and cool like that and didn't have some sort of thing.
Oh well. He'd ponder that later, right now he was trying to show her around Kord Inc, or at least their New York based operations and not make a fool of himself.
He had shown her the lobby (see the plants, real ones even!), shown her their lunch room/cafeteria (we enjoy our food here) and the break room (we don't know what caused that stain on the carpet ... best just to step around that. Look more non plastic plants!) and now ... now they were on the floor where the actual business happened. Or at least some of it. Using his keycard, Ted unlocked the doors to their main lab (or what he called their showcase lab, the one they showed to people they were trying to impress. Which up until now had been investors) and pushed the door open.
"And this is where the magic happens." Okay, so much for not being a huge cheese ball.
The lab had been cleaned yesterday, so surfaces were pretty shinny. A few of the R&D guys and gals were off to the side, standing over a computer and talking in low voices about the display on the screen.
"Umm, right now were trying to make this solvent ... see we made this glue. Which his great. Really sticky. But we can't get it to ... well go away. Which is what you'd want for glue I know, but if it gets on your clothes it's kind of stuck there." He offered her a smile; "I know, we really live on the edge here."
