Barbara let out a long sigh as she balanced her laptop on her legs, typing furiously into the computer. She had gotten a lot of information so far about the website she'd found. It was serving as the front for a group calling themselves the Order of the End, and this group went beyond conspiracy theorists into a bona fide cult. They met in secret, passing coded messages only to those who had been vetted and initiated. They seemed to be gathering materials for their epic battle: humanity vs the superhumans.
It was unclear how they hoped to achieve it or what their target would be, but they were certainly moving resources around at an alarming rate, amassing funds and contacting weapons dealers. She knew she would have to move her team in soon if she was going to stave off a bloodbath, but Barbara was still trying to keep her plays close to her chest. Because as interesting as a doomsday cult was, the orchestrator at the center of the world was who really held her attention. Even with all her work, she had nothing more than a screen name and some dead end contact information.
"Ugh!" she let out a noise of frustration, looking up to her boyfriend. "I don't know how he's doing this. Every time I think I had a handle on where he might pop up another barrier gets in my way. He hasn't made any move that would say he knows I'm onto him. He hasn't retaliated or changed trajectory for his group, but he's...he's working faster than me. He shouldn't be able to go faster than me." She was giving up a lot of her time that would otherwise be used for sleep, patrolling and socializing, which was why date night had turned into a hack-a-thon. She felt a little bad about doing that to Ted, but she was also glad to have somebody to bounce ideas off of. "If I move the team in on the ground now--which is what I probably should be doing--then I lose him. Maybe for good. And you know something? I get the feeling he doesn't even really believe this crap. There's no evidence of him going to any of these rendezvous or talking to the weapons dealers or even a fishy Google search I could nail him for."
