Who: Booster Gold and Johnny Storm Where: New York City When: Thursday, December 6, 2012 What: Bank Robberies and spotlight hogging. Rating: PG-13
Christmas was kind of awesome. They'd gotten the trees set up in the Baxter Building (one for the lobby and one on their actual floor) and all the decorations were out. Even HERBIE had a festive Santa hat perched jauntily atop his little mechanical head. The only things left to do were buying presents and attending all the parties, the latter requiring a lot less effort.
Johnny'd been shopping for almost the entire day and only had one bag to show for it. Granted it was a slightly oversized bag and it was filled to the brim but seeing as how it was from a joke store and everything was destined for Ben's stocking it really didn't count. (There'd be regular presents also, but those just weren't as fun to buy.) He generally did all right with Sue's gifts but Reed could be impossible to shop for. Johnny knew he should have taken advantage of the personal concierge service when it'd been suggested to him.
He was a block away from the garage when he heard the sirens. A small group of cop cars rushed past before stopping in front of a bank a few blocks up. A robbery in broad daylight? That took some guts. By the time Johnny reached the scene, the cops had already set up a perimeter and were try to usher away a crowd of onlookers.
"What's the situation, officer?"
The officer turned, ready to whoever to go away and let them do their job, but stopped when he recognized Johnny. He gave a brief nod. "Eyewitnesses saw four men dressed as Santa Claus enter the bank then proceeded to pull out guns."
"Right." That was one way not to be caught on camera. It wasn't as classy as dead presidents...
And speaking of cameras, there came the news crew right on time.
Johnny moved away, letting the journalists and the cops argue it out. Four robbers and a bankful of people. It'd probably be a lot safer to catch the thieves when they were making their getaway. Now if he could only convince the cops of that...
