"My purpose here - the end-goal - is to prevent that war from occurring," he told Logan, and everyone else, as well. "But I won't get ahead of myself. It all begins here, in this era, and a great part of it has to do with mutants."
He gave another nod to Logan and Piotr. "Providence is open to everyone, but I, myself, am a mutant, which is the first part of what I meant by saying 'mutant affairs'. I believe that makes me particularly a person of interest, doesn't it?" He smiled. "But what I hope to convey to you while you're here is the importance of my mission; for the whole world, yes, but beginning with our people."
It was true that sometimes it was difficult for Cable to read Wade. Call it shared DNA, or the fact that his... disjointed mind was occasionally hard to get a lock on, Cable didn't notice Wade was there until he spoke. That was always unsettling. Once he had viewed Wade as - at best - an annoyance; at worst - an obstacle in need of removal. He'd become far more indulgent; amused by him, even; considered him a friend.
Which made things a little sticky right now. "My goodwill ambassador," he muttered to Logan. Then, "Everyone is welcome on Providence," he explained with great equanimity. "So long as they abide by the rules; which, unfortunately, do not include manners, but do preclude violence." He cast an apologetic smile in Rogue's direction.
"Wade." Cable raised a patient eyebrow. "Don't you have some Theodor Geisel books to edit, instead of sexually harassing the nice people who are here to determine which side of the Force we're on?" Wade had recently shown him that movie, and Cable thought he'd appreciate his attempt to make the reference.
