He was entirely uncomfortable with this- and everyone telling him to relax didn't actually make him feel any better. He knew how intimidating his appearance could be, and certainly understood their concerns, but Piotr, for one, would rather their entire team be prepared and safe than lax and cuddly.
All the same, with the consensus against him on this one, Pete dropped his armor. "You are probably very right." He admitted. "'Speak softly and carry big stick', da?" He said with a tense smile. Pete made a very good big stick.
Piotr looked up when the man came flying in (he could fly too; which powers did he not have?) and though he was surprised to hear Cable speak in his mother tongue, Pete shook Cable's hand. "Zdravstvujtye. Pozhaluysta, pozvonite mne Piotr.*" He corrected easily, then nodded around the island, "Spasibo. Eto prekrasno.**" Pete dropped Nathan's hand and stepped back, equally surprised to find that not only did the man speak Russian- but he was also a good two inches taller than Pete. So much for being the big stick without armor.
"You were expecting us?" Pete questioned, switching back to English for the rest of the party to understand. "How did you know we would be coming?" They hadn't phoned ahead, after all. Perhaps he had read their minds from across the country-- but if that was the case, it was probably already too late for this group to undo whatever trap they may have unwittingly fallen into.
