Something had gone wrong. And the kitchen, small as it was, certainly seemed to reflect that with the mess that Barda had made in the meantime. She wasn't entirely sure what it was but it had to be something with the recipe. She'd had some inkling that it wouldn't work properly - which was why she had tweaked it with a few items from the cupboards of the little apartment. And possibly a few more when she realized that it wasn't looking like the photograph on the internet. She'd learned to thoroughly enjoy the internet - even if it was often filled with nonsensical things and people who were downright odd. The lack of restriction was a little overwhelming at times to her senses, as accustomed to censorship and regimentation as she always had been. But there was sometimes too much information to shift through - which had led to awkward conversations about why 4chan maybe wasn't the best place to look at Earth news. But all of that was secondary to the fact that Barda was staring at the lump in the pan very skeptically for a moment. It was probably edible - although he last attempts had not been quite so kind. Barda had opened the apartment door - just to let some of the smoke out of the room. It was fortunate for everyone that Oberon had seen the incoming onslaught and disappeared with Ted Brown - Scott's manager - for a couple of pints down at the local bar, instead of critiquing Barda's cooking attempts. Less things were broken that way. Barda genuinely liked Jennie. That was the one of the most obvious reasons that she was attempting to follow traditions and bring something for this Thanksgiving Holiday. Even if she might set a few things on fire in the meantime. |
